Absolutely beautiful. I love the muted pastelish tones, there's so much character. And the colors that fit together -- sandals, skirt, blanket, shirt, book, grass. Then there's the way the grass is "tamed" by the cross hatching... The best part, though, is that only half the blanket is being used. Kyle McDonald at 2005-10-02 22:33:42
All sorts of good, and quite a change from the style of many of your shots. Ditto the comment about her taking up half the blanket - gets you wondering about who/where the other person is. James at 2005-10-02 22:48:06
Now this is an excellent shot on many levels. Composition is excellent. The story being told is obvious, but not blatant. And the camera angle makes you wonder where Mr. Slower was when the shot was taken; hanging out in a tree? Even if it was staged, it's still a keeper in a big way. Jack at 2005-10-02 23:00:27
i can't see any wrinkles or bumps or other signs of someone having been on the other half... that adds something to the picture Roy at 2005-10-03 02:22:48
this is so emo some dude at 2005-10-03 03:42:01
Wow, this is really a great shot. One of my favorite shots of yours. Lou at 2005-10-03 06:41:01
A great shot...composition, tone, size, everything... Dean at 2005-10-03 14:41:38
To Eliot: next feature to add to Slower is the ability to save some shots into a profile of some sorts. This one would definitely go in mine. Yogix at 2005-10-03 15:13:32
fantastic! i think the pink really looks great against that surreal grass. great shot! jonathan at 2005-10-03 16:05:42
it's reminds me of powers of 10, of course-- did someone already say that? jake at 2005-10-03 18:29:55

(Sorry it must be annoying to have all these people including me say your pix remind them of someone else's... Lazy shorthand I guess & how we make sense of things) Johanna at 2005-10-04 16:59:10
2 things comes to my mind: Uno: I want to be on this blanket qith her. Secundo: It would scrap this perfect shot. Martin at 2005-10-04 19:04:14

A terrific representation of what summer is all about. Ed at 2005-10-04 23:04:51
love it! matthijs at 2005-10-05 07:32:25
came here via a link from kottke. nice pic, i can't say it reminds me of somebody else's work, and i'm not hip enough to know what 'emo' is. but a great picture nonetheless. skritten at 2005-10-05 07:44:57
Beautiful photo. She looks dead. Lisa at 2005-10-05 11:57:06
aw, she doesn't look dead. you could interpret some forlornness, but i don't see any full-on cynotic hypoxia going on.... :) skritten at 2005-10-05 19:21:38
Absolutely stunning. I dropped by via kottke as well - and I'm glad I did. The sense of open space and privacy are enhanced by the viewpoint you've chosen - brilliant. I can imagine this image on the cover of a chillout album, as it exemplifies a warm summer afternoon, lazily drinking up the sun and simply 'being'. javajive at 2005-10-05 22:01:23
beautiful. life can be so good. helge at 2005-10-06 07:04:28
